Norwegian Live (NKA in Norwegian) is an interest- and competence organization for Norwegian cultural organizers and represents an ever-increasing membership of over 450 festivals, clubs, venues, concert associations, student societies, libraries, museums and cultural centres. Our association was established in 1982.

The Norwegian cultural organizers are a diverse grouping of large and small, voluntary run organizations and large commercial enterprises. In our biggest cities and at the countryside, these organizers work every day for the Norwegian audience to experience cultural experiences. Good cultural experiences need good organizers and we work every day to provide Norwegian cultural organizers with an offer that enables them to develop as organizers. We also advocate for good framework conditions for the cultural organizers, and contribute to increase professionalism at the organizing level.

Our organization facilitates networking platforms and create arenas where organizers can meet and share best practice. We work in the interests of our members, and offer training materials, courses, a professional network, guidance and advice. As a member service, we also help our members with legal services, financial support schemes, as well as sharing knowledge about cultural activities in a broad sense.

Our organization is democratically structured with a national assembly, statutes, and an elected board. Our focus is based on three main areas:

  • Competence development
  • Membership service
  • Interest policy and advocacy

Cultural organizers toolbox

A popular offer from NKA is the digital wiki for organizers, where some topics are open for everyone.

The wiki is a collection of useful articles, documents, templates, links and other info that covers all phases of the organizer's world.

Some of the chapters have been translated into English.

The English version can be found here.
